This school year, 2009 -2010, I am working as the full time Literacy Coach at Nokomis.
As the Literacy Coach, I am a resource for all the teachers at Nokomis with a focus on Literacy. I will support all teachers through planning, discussion, materials, classroom modeling, and training. Our Literacy classroom instruction is centered around the Reader's Workshop and the Writer's Workshop an instructional model adopted by the St. Paul Public Schools. The Reader's and Writer's Workshop are connected through common literature and strategy instruction. This year we have a new reading program in St. Paul, MONDO, this is a perfect fit with our already well established Reader's Workshop. We have great new materials to support our shared reading, guided reading, interactive read aloud, and oral language components of reading.
I wear many other hats as the Literacy Coach
This is an exciting year and everyone at Nokomis is off to a great start.
