A child explores the trinomial cube
Welcome to Nokomis Montessori and room 105!  My name is Mary Schmidt, I love teaching at Nokomis Montessori. I have my Bachelor Degree from the Univ. of MN, Montessori Certificate from the College of St. Catherine's, and my Master's of Education from Hamline University. In my spare time I love to: read, garden, take long walks, golf, bike ride -  anything with family and friends.
My morning class is a combination of pre-school children and kindergartners. Sandy Balfanz is my assistant in the morning. She brings a calm and nurturing way to the children.  At noon time the pre-school children go home or to day care. My afternoon session is with kindergartners only. I collaborate with Bao Yang, our ELL teacher. She works with all kindergartners,
but primarily with children that have English as a second language.
If you ever have any questions or concerns,  please contact me either by phone (651) 293-8857,  voice mail 1059, or email: mary.schmidt@spps.org. The best time to call is between 8 - 8:30 a.m., or 3:45 - 4:15 p.m.  I will return your message as soon as possible. I am looking forward to a great learning year.
